Translate Bio is a clinical-stage messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics company developing a new class of potentially transformative medicines to treat diseases caused by protein or gene dysfunction. Translate Bio’s mRNA therapeutics are designed to deliver mRNA that carries instructions for producing intracellular, transmembrane and secreted proteins which will modify disease at the cellular level.
In early 1961, three scientists -- Sydney Brenner, Francois Jacob and Matt Meselson – discovered a mysterious molecule they dubbed messenger RNA (mRNA). Their work marked one of the classiest moves in scientific history, demonstrating that genes are not encoded on DNA but rather on a different, much smaller molecule. The discovery led to one of the central pillars of the central dogma of molecular biology, the idea that information is passed from DNA to mRNA and then to a protein.
BIOTRONIK is not issuing a product security update to address these vulnerabilities; however, BIOTRONIK has identified compensating controls that reduce the risk of exploitation and have determined that no new potential safety risks exist. As a result, BIOTRONIK recommends maintaining good physical control over all home monitoring units and using only home monitoring devices obtained directly from your healthcare provider or a BIOTRONIK representative to ensure that they are being used appropriately.
